Welcome Home: SuperMUNKS™ SEL Literacy Program

SuperMUNKS™ is a 24-book, story-driven SEL and early-literacy program designed for K–5 learners. The series teaches foundational reading skills while guiding students through emotional and social development—using adventure, character, and repetition to build lasting understanding.

The program is structured around four story arcs, each carrying six core emotions. Through repeated narrative exposure, children learn to recognize emotions, regulate responses, and practice empathy—while literacy skills grow naturally through story.

Core Emotions Explored

• Happiness / Joy: Wonder, Kindness, Gratitude, Celebration
• Sadness: Loss, Empathy, Growth, Hope
• Anger: Calm, Forgiveness, Fairness, Advocacy
• Fear: Courage, Bravery, Asking for Help, Facing Change
• Surprise: Curiosity, Imagination, Adaptability, Learning from Mistakes
• Disgust: Respect, Boundaries, Clean Choices, Integrity

The SuperMUNKS

Each emotion is explored through the unique lens of one of four heroes, allowing students to encounter the same emotional terrain from different strengths and perspectives.

• Declan (Intellect) — problem-solving, invention, logical courage
• Zuri (Strength) — resilience, physical bravery, grounded empathy
• LiLi (Flight) — joy, freedom, perspective, emotional lightness
• Vie (Art / Ghost) — reflection, creativity, uniqueness, inner life

Each SuperMUNK leads six stories, aligned with the six emotions above. This creates intentional repetition of social-emotional lessons while keeping literacy practice immersive and fun.

Project Design Overview

SuperMUNKS™ is a 24-book illustrated picture-book series.

Each book is 24 pages, with one short paragraph per page, designed to train:

• Paragraph fluency
• Story sequencing
• Narrative flow
• Early writing intuition

Stories are narrated by Diego Dufort, a legendary spy and mentor figure who guides readers through each adventure and models reflective thinking.

 Cadence of Storytelling

• Books in Series: 24

• Narrative Structure: 8 “Rooms” (story stages)
• Pages per Room: 3
• Reading Load: Short paragraph per page
  (Students effectively read and internalize 4 sentences per page.)

This cadence quietly trains narrative cognition—without worksheets or lectures.

• Collegiate Studio Society: Advanced narrative and genre labs (kept distinct from K–12)
